Muay Thai Kick Boxing

Ajahn Kham trains Head Instructor Daniel Carr. Muay Thai fighters reign supreme as the best standup fighters in the world. Fighters from Asia, America, and Europe have all tried to win in Thailand, most of them being knocked out very quickly, the smarter ones leaving with a profound respect for the Thai's and their art.

Now, Muay Thai is the number one choice with professional full contact fighters for standup skills, Brazilian Jiu Jistu the first choice for groundfighting. Some of our best kickboxers are women.

It differs from the newer, commercial Kick Boxing styles in it's use of shin kicks, knees, elbows, full power pad striking, and stand-up grappling.

Our studio features authentic Muay Thai learned from Decha Petsin, a top ranked fighter from Lumpini Stadium, and Ajahn Kham Nakradam. Ajahn Kham has had a hand in training many American Muay Thai professional fighters. He also boasts having guided the most prestigious Muay Thai school in Hawaii for over a decade.

Decha Petsin and Daniel Carr chill on Koh Samui, circa 1996.Muay Thai compliments Theravadan Buddhist Meditation and Philosophy to produce optimal results in both studies. Buddhist Meditation and Philosophy works well with all types of martial arts, not just Muay Thai.

These practices enrich Muay Thai far beyond the fighting skills and martial prowess given to it's practitioners. The development of "Chi" (central nervous system electricity or bio-electric energy) in the art takes place during breathing, concentration, and meditation practices.

Muay Thai, like the systems of Kung Fu and Tai Chi, uses "Chi" in martial application and the development of physical and mental health. With a strong practice in Kung Fu and Hatha Yoga backing Muay Thai training, students can expect rapid development in their health, strength, self-defense, and meditation skills.
